To say Paris is famous for festivals is to say Pierre Cardin is famous for clothes: it’s an understatement. Paris is a vibrant city with something happening almost all year round. Among the most prominent Paris music festivals is the Fete de la Musique, a music festival that features hundreds of musicians playing all varieties of music in the many of city’s streets and eateries.
Another of the most important Paris events is Bastille Day, France’s Independence Day. Much like in America, Bastille Day is full of fireworks, food, an air show and parade by the French Air Force and much more. The streets of Paris are donned in patriotic colors for the day and the celebration is also held voluntarily in other countries due to its cultural significance.
One of the most unique festivals in Paris is Nuit Blanche, intended to promote the arts and education in France. Every museum, art gallery and various other cultural centers in Paris open at night, for free, and the exhibits come alive with all sorts of lights and special effects. Even the Grand Palaise itself gets in on the act for this special night. Several cities around the world hold similar festivals every year.
