About Festivals, Craft Shows and Fairs in Ohio

Ohio is often considered to be a barren location with little to do, but the Buckeye state is more than just to home to farmland, Mormons and the Amish. It’s a beautiful location with many natural attractions, alongside bustling cities for those who prefer the cosmopolitan side of life. And every year, the state offers a number of interesting and exciting festivals and events.

The 12-day Ohio state fair is a classic offering with a huge range of entertainment and attractions, and entices almost one million visitors each year. The event is packed with live music and entertainment, with loads of big household names – previous artists have included Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kesha and Selena Gomez. There are also interactive and exciting attractions for all ages, such as diving shows, parades, competitions and petting zoos, and lots of food, drinks and fairground rides. It’s a modern take on a traditional event, and the varied program is guaranteed to have something for everyone!

The Columbus Asian Festival honours and celebrates the diverse and varied cultures of regions and countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Pakistan, China, Japan and more, and features performances, displays and exhibitions. For two days, over 100,000 visitors explore and experience heritage, history and tradition, and can see, taste and try a range of different sports, foods, arts, crafts and more. If you’ve ever fancied learning about Asia and witnessing, eating or attempting some of the traditions for yourself, then look no further… it’s a flavour of Asia without the long-haul flight! Other cultural festivals in the state offer a slice of life from other corners of the globe, including Germany and Latin America.

Ohio Renaissance Festival is a medieval medley of jousting, juggling, music and mayhem. For almost two months, attendees can live the lives of medieval knights, kings, princesses and paupers. Entertainment at the festival includes fire shows, traditional music, duelling swordsmen, magic, comedy and traditional dance – with a total of over 100 different themed performances. There are also bargains aplenty in the market place, where you can buy the old-fashioned wares of blacksmiths, glass blowers, metalsmiths and others, while hearty medieval food is provided to fill your belly and redden your cheeks.
