Dublin International Piano Festival & Summer Academy presents its final performance of the 2017 concert series ‘Alumni Alight,’ in Dublin’s Hugh Lane Gallery, Sunday 30th July at 12:00 noon. ‘Alumni Alight’ will see eighteen talented and emerging international pianists, who all participated in the festival’s 2017 Summer Academy, experience the thrill and excitement of performing live on stage.
Following intensive tuition and masterclasses from the festival’s renowned and expert teaching faculty, the student body of the festival’s 2017 summer academy will apply their newly acquired skill and technique in a varied and challenging programme that will include the best of Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Schubert, Prokofiev, Bach, Bartok and Liszt. ‘Alumni Alight,’ promises to be an exhilarating and emotional event, during which Dublin audiences will have the chance to experience the debut performances of future international piano stars.
‘The calibre of students who have applied to be part of the 2017 Summer Academy has been overwhelming,’ says Festival Director Rhona Gouldson. ‘We are honoured and privileged to have them be part of our festival and are proud to be able to assist in developing their careers in performance.’
Dublin International Piano Festival & Summer Academy 2017 runs from 22nd – 30th July inclusive. For its duration, a concert series of piano music, spanning classical, avant-garde and jazz, will take place in Dublin’s Hugh Lane Gallery and the National Concert Hall. The festival also houses a summer academy for advanced students of piano, wherein they avail of valuable tuition, seminars and masterclasses from some of the world’s most esteemed pianists and experts on piano tuition.
