The Dublin International Piano Festival (DIPF) are honoured to present ‘Titan Of The Piano’, a solo concert from one of the world’s greatest living pianists; Boris Berezovsky, on Tuesday July 25th at the National Concert Hall, in aid of Childvision.
Berezovsky’s Dublin show will span across an eclectic group of composers, from Beethoven and Bartok to De Falla and Grieg. Although he is described as a Colossus of Russian piano, the Moscow man holds diversity in music close to his heart. The inherent passion he displays for the individual genius of each artist is palpable in every single performance: Berezovsky believes “Beethoven creates music out of nothingness. I personally like his unbelievable nuclear energy. He is as powerful as the sun.” With such dogged commitment to variety, he will be sure to enchant audiences with this alluring programme of classics from around the globe.
Described by Gramophone magazine as, “The true successor to the great Russian pianists of the past”, the Russian virtuoso will entertain and delight his audience with an astounding solo show. A recipient of the prestigious gold medal in the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition at just 21 years old, his prodigious career has since scaled to dizzying heights.
As well as performing with adored orchestras like the Berlin, Los Angeles, New York and Moscow Philharmonic Orchestras; and a myriad of others, he has worked under truly respected conductors like Kurt Masur, Leonard Slatkin and Valery Gergiev. In 2006, he became the winner of the Record Of The Year Award from BBC Music Magazine, and his impressive discography is available on Teldec Classics, Gramophone and Diapason d’Or, among others.
The Dublin PianoFest is also proud to announce that this recital will be in aid of ChildVision, Ireland’s only Centre for Blind and Multi-disabled children who, for over 150 years have been working with families from all over Ireland to provide therapeutic care and residential services for children with sight loss and other significant disabilities, and we are honoured to support the vital work they do. Witness the astounding talents of one of the world’s greatest pianists while contributing to an incredible charity this summer.
