About This Festival
‘Happy Days at War’ is theatre re-imagined, created and performed by some of Australia's best emerging young talent. The audience is on stage, in a kitchen, in Germany, 1939 - witnesses and accomplices to everything that takes place around them. The show follows a couple who find love in a period of political turmoil, but signed to work for the Führer, the husband must declare any affiliation with Jews or people with impairments. His wife is blind. The show is a rainbow of emotions - joy and terror - and challenges us to reflect not just on society's blindness in WWII but on society's blindness today. ‘Happy Days at War’ is a rare opportunity for Perth audiences to experience immersive theatre, which has taken New York and London by storm.
